Apostille and translation
Separate steps. A coordinated document file.
An apostille and an official translation serve different purposes. The right sequence depends on where the document was issued, where it will be used and what the recipient requires.
Confirm the route before you start.
A translation transfers the content into another language. An apostille authenticates the origin of an eligible public document for use under the applicable international framework.
Send the original document, any existing apostille or legalization and the institution’s instructions. Apostille, notarization, courier delivery and third-party procedures are separate from translation unless expressly included in the written scope.
What to tell us.
- Country where the document was issued and country where it will be presented.
- Receiving institution and its current written requirements.
- Whether the apostille, attachments or reverse sides must also be translated.
- Your intended submission date and delivery format.
Clear answers
A few things worth knowing.
Share the recipient’s instructions with your documents so we can review the right scope.
Does an official translation replace an apostille?
No. Translation and apostille are separate procedures. Ask the receiving institution which documents and formalities it requires, and share those instructions with your request.
